Follow your heart. Göteborgsvarvet Marathon 2023.

I met my dear friend Aisyah last Saturday. We've known each other for four years, and she's been a wonderful part of my life ever since. We share a love for travel, wine, and fitness, so it's easy to hang out with her as she's up for almost anything.

We had a fantastic full day in town; I accompanied her while she tried on wedding dresses for her upcoming wedding, and afterward, we strolled around town, enjoying ourselves. We had a few glasses of wine, and halfway into the evening mist, she told me:

She had registered for the Gothenburg Marathon on September 3rd, all by herself.

For those who don't know Aisyah, let me provide you with some background information. She's a positive and driven woman from Borneo, a doctor, 153 cm tall, and has never run in her entire life. At the beginning of 2023, she decided to get in shape and started training circuit exercises at F45 in Gothenburg, where she has excelled ever since. She's a petite, determined, positive person who doesn't give up easily.

She has started a bucket list, and one item on it is: "Complete a marathon before the wedding."

Who am I to back down from a challenge?

And there's no way she's running it all by herself.

So that's the plan.

I'm joining her in her training flow and positivity, and our goal is to cross the finish line with joy and without injuries. If that means walking most of the marathon, that's perfectly fine. It will be a great challenge for me, as I've only run a half marathon as a training distance.

To make the whole experience extra special, Aisyah and I would like to raise money for a good cause at the same time.

For those reading this, please consider donating to the Heart-Lung Foundation.

Not everyone has the opportunity to run or walk, and not everyone is fortunate enough to be healthy. The money you donate gives people the chance to keep living, keep running, and keep enjoying life.
